Good day for justice – big win for a refugee who had been exploited by yet another dodgy MIA migration agent!
A mother and her young child had trusted this well known migration agent to protect her and manage her ART appeal.
As often is the case this migration agent – a real cowboy – fleeced her by charging a fortune and then did a runner.
Coincidently and only by chance did she contact the ART – given she had heard nothing about her case for years – when she did speak to the ART her life and dreams crumbed before her.
The ART informed her that the hearing was held on the 19 February 2025 and her dodgy migration agent had failed to appear, consequently the matter had been dismissed pursuant to section 99 of the Act.
Fortunately she had a friend that AR LAW SERVICES: Master Migration Lawyers had represented years ago – we won that refugee appeal too – and she arrange an urgent meeting with us.

About 3 years ago I was retained by a client who had been cheated by a dodgy migration agent. At first I just assumed it was yet another heartbreaking tale of an innocent and gullible visa applicant trusting an incompetent migration agent.
Over the last 3 years, given we had tried on many occasions and via many methods – letters, emails and process servers – to contact this migration agent, however we failed to get a reply.
Until today.

The dodgy agent had – according to the office of OMARA – recently renewed his license – so he was around, somewhere.
We had no idea what the agent looked like.
The game – as Conan Doyle would have it – was afoot!

The Sting!
Given we have a crack investigation team we were able to track down another migration agent (will call him or her Larry: not his or her real name) who worked for the dodgy agent (we will call her Moe: not his or her real name) we were anxious to speak to.
Larry was very helpful – Moe was most displeased, but that came later.
Through an intermediatory a meeting was set up at a café – Larry and Moe refused to reveal if they had an office and their office’s address. (Larry & Moe only would deal in cash payments).
After Larry rescheduled the meeting with the intermediatory – changing the venue on several occasions – the meeting was set.
Our team assembled early and waited.
At the designated time we called Larry’s phone.
“Is that Larry?”
“Yes it most certainly is – I am Larry!”
“Good, is Moe there”
“Yes”
“Could I please talk to Moe”
“You certainly can – Moe, its for you!”
At which point we pounced and Moe was served!
